The UGA Accounting Entrance Exam, Explained
If you're applying to an Accounting or Finance major at the Terry College of Business, the accounting entrance exam — often called the ACCT 2101 exam or EPP — is part of your application. Here's what it is, how it works, and how to walk in prepared.
What the Exam Is
The accounting entrance exam is one factor Terry College considers when you apply to the Accounting or Finance major. It's based on the material from ACCT 2101 (Principles of Accounting I), so if you're taking — or have recently taken — that course, you've already seen the concepts it draws on.

Attempts and Registration
Two things catch students off guard:
- You're limited to a total of three attempts while a UGA student, so each sitting matters.
- You register for the exam through the university's testing service on RegisterBlast, and seats at the testing center fill up around application deadlines.
What to Study
The exam tests the core ACCT 2101 toolkit. In our sessions, the topics students most often need to shore up are:
- Journal entries and the accounting cycle — debits, credits, adjusting entries, and closing entries
- Financial statements — how the income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows connect
- Common sticking points like accruals, deferrals, depreciation, and inventory methods
